SelectWisely Alternative: AllergyCard vs SelectWisely (2026)
An honest comparison of SelectWisely and AllergyCard — pricing, language coverage, delivery format, and which one actually fits your trip. Includes the real cost of a multi-country itinerary.
If you are searching for a SelectWisely alternative, you are usually in one of two situations: you priced out cards for a multi-country trip and the total surprised you, or you need your card before you fly and shipping will not make it.
This page compares SelectWisely and AllergyCard honestly, including the cases where SelectWisely is clearly the better buy.
Disclosure: AllergyCard is our product. We have tried to keep every claim below checkable — competitor prices are quoted from their public product pages with the date we checked them, and we link to the sources so you can verify them yourself.

SelectWisely does not publish prices on its catalog page; prices appear on individual product pages. The $16.99 figure is the published price for the English-only Vegan card as of August 2026 and may differ for bilingual translation cards. Check selectwisely.com for current pricing before you decide.
The real difference is the pricing model, not the price
A single card from either service costs roughly the same order of magnitude. The gap opens up when your trip has more than one destination.
Both SelectWisely and Equal Eats sell per card, per language. AllergyCard charges once, and that payment covers every language we support.
Here is what a Tokyo → Seoul → Bangkok itinerary costs:
| 1 destination | 3 destinations | |
|---|---|---|
| Equal Eats (instant PDF, $9.99 each) | $9.99 | $29.97 |
| AllergyCard | $8.99 | $8.99 |
Equal Eats publishes its prices openly — $18.99 for a plastic card, $9.99 for an instant PDF download, from $19.99 customised (checked Aug 2026) — so the multi-destination math above is verifiable. We have deliberately not run the same arithmetic for SelectWisely, because we could only verify one published price and extrapolating it across their catalogue would not be honest.
The principle holds either way: if you are visiting one country, price is close to a wash. If you are visiting three, a per-card model costs several times more.
When SelectWisely is the better choice
We would genuinely point you to SelectWisely in these cases:
You need a language we do not cover. This is the big one. SelectWisely lists 67 languages; we support 10 (Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Thai, Spanish, French, German, Italian, English). If you are going to Vietnam, Turkey, Greece, Poland, Indonesia or dozens of other destinations, we simply cannot help and SelectWisely can.
You want a physical plastic card. A laminated card survives a wallet for years, does not need a charged phone, and can be handed to a server without unlocking anything. Our output is a PDF and a PNG — you can print and laminate them yourself, but that is a step you have to take.
You need a non-food card. SelectWisely covers drug allergies (penicillin, sulfa, NSAIDs, iodine), diabetes, asthma, latex and skin contact allergies, and airport security documentation. We only do food allergies.
You want a long track record. SelectWisely has been doing this for years and has an established reputation in the allergy community. We launched in April 2026.
When AllergyCard is the better choice
You are visiting more than one country. One payment covers every language we support. Make a Japanese card, a Korean card and a Thai card from the same purchase.
You are leaving soon. Download is instant. No shipping, no waiting.
You are not sure yet. Build the card and see exactly what it says in both languages before paying anything. If it is not what you want, you have not spent money.
Your allergens are unusual or numerous. Our cards are generated from your specific selections rather than picked off a shelf, so a combination like "peanuts, tree nuts, sesame and shellfish, no cross-contact" is one card rather than four.
You expect to need changes. Realising you forgot an allergen, or wanting a poster-sized version for a hotel kitchen, costs nothing after purchase.
Looking for a SelectWisely discount code?
A lot of people arrive here searching for a SelectWisely coupon, cashback or discount. Two honest things worth knowing:
We do not have a SelectWisely discount code, and we would be a poor source for one. We are a competitor. Their own site and email list are the places to look.
Run the total first. If the reason you want a discount is that a multi-destination order came out higher than expected, the discount is probably not the fix — the per-card model is. Work out how many cards you actually need, then compare. For a single-destination trip, a discounted SelectWisely card may well be the better buy, especially if you want plastic.

Frequently asked questions
Is AllergyCard a good SelectWisely alternative?
For food allergies in the 10 languages we cover, yes — particularly for multi-country trips, because one $8.99 payment covers every language rather than one card each. For rare languages, drug allergy cards, or physical plastic cards, SelectWisely is the better fit.
How many languages does SelectWisely support?
SelectWisely lists more than 60 languages on its site (67 named, from Afrikaans to Zulu). AllergyCard supports 10: Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Thai, Spanish, French, German, Italian and English.
How much does SelectWisely cost?
SelectWisely does not list prices on its catalogue page. Individual product pages do — for example, the English-only Vegan card is published at $16.99 for a pack of two (checked August 2026). Bilingual translation card prices may differ, so check the specific product page for the card you need.
Can I get a printed plastic card from AllergyCard?
Not directly. You get a print-ready PDF and a phone-ready PNG. Many people print at home on card stock and laminate, or use a local print shop. If you want a professionally produced plastic card mailed to you, SelectWisely or Equal Eats are the right choice.
Do I have to pay again to make a card in another language?
No. One $8.99 payment covers every language and template we offer, and you can re-download any time from the link in your confirmation email.
Which is safer?
Neither format is inherently safer — what matters is that the card names your allergens clearly, mentions cross-contact, and is in a language the kitchen reads. Both services do that. A physical card has the practical edge of working with a dead phone battery; a digital card has the edge of being replaceable if you lose it.
The verdict
Going to one country, want something durable in your wallet, or need a language we do not cover? SelectWisely. Their language coverage is genuinely much wider than ours and a plastic card is a real advantage.
Going to several countries, leaving soon, or want to see the card before you pay? Build one free and decide after you have looked at it. One payment covers every language and template, and you can change it later at no cost.
Plenty of travellers reasonably use both: a durable plastic card for the destination they visit most, and generated cards for everywhere else.
